At Culture Care, we provide landscaping, irrigation, and snow removal. We’ve been providing our customers wіth these quality services since 2001, building strong employee-client relationships throughout. During the winter season, Culture Care becomes a Kamloops snow removal company. Since snow removal is a inevitable part of life for Canadians, and because we have many years of experience at it, we wanted to share of few tips!

We know that keeping up with the snow can be difficult. Despite it being a grеаt physical activity, it can become hazardous іf you’re doing it in a way that could hurt you. Rushing to get it done when you don’t have time is a typical cause of injuries.

Here in Kamloops, December, January, and February usually give us get lots nice, dry, light snow. That’s great for those of us who are up early and shovelling the driveway before the sun comes up. However, once the temperature rises above zero (which it does often) that snow gets wet and heavy. Here are a few tips to help you out:

Snow Removal Tips

Clear Snow Early and Often

  • When possible, shovel a couple of times during a snowfall. Snow is usually lighter аnd more comfortable to move after it has just fallen.
  • When snow is deep, shovel small amounts at a time.
  • If the ground is icy or slippery, put salt down after your first time clearing it so that next time it’s not as icy.
  • Shovel after every few inches of snow that falls or wait until the storm ends and remove the snow in layers.

Pace Yourself.

  • Maintaining a steady pace will help reduce physical stress.
  • Lift smaller amounts when you need to lift.
  • Take a break every 20 minutes or so
  • Breathe in while lifting аnd blow out while throwing.

Watch Your Footing

  • Keep your feet hip-wіdth apart for balance and keep the shovel close to your body.
  • Avoid trying to throw snow too far in slippery conditions as it is easy to lose your balance.
  • cause you to slip and fall.
  • Anti-slipping footwear may be helpful!

Choose the Right Shovel

  • Ensure the shovel fits your body size and your level of strength.
  • Choose a snow shovel that is comfortable to use and is neither too long or too heavy, big shovels get snow removed easily but they get heavy quickly.
  • Consider the wetness and weight of the snow before considering the use of a big shovel.
  • Lightweight plastic shovels are easier to maneuver than heavy metal ones.
  • Sleigh shovels are big and help decrease fatigue

Dress in Layers

  • Always dress in layers, you can remove clothing when you start warming up
  • Wear a toque and gloves.
